Oud Essentials is a new skin care brand inspired by the world of fragrance. The brand was created by entrepreneur Jean-Marc Dufat. A few of the products are shown above, in airless bottles. The line features Oud, for the first time, as a main ingredient in a skin care range. The Oud Essentials line includes the patented “OudActive+,” an ingredient is described by the company as, “a super-refined, purest of the pure, essential oil that enhances both physical and spiritual wellbeing.” Dufat explains, “Oud is formed, naturally, in response to ‘infection’ in the heart of the Aquilaria tree. We’ve created some truly innovative products that will impact the global skincare industry in a positive way, and we know that in Oud, we have a cutting-edge ingredient that will make a major difference.” All the ingredients used in the Oud Essentials’ range of products are sustainably sourced and produced. As a core ingredient in Oud Essentials’ products, the Oud used is produced on sustainable, dedicated plantations that benefit the environment as well as communities. More About Oud & Its Benefits Oud is known for its aroma, as well as healing and medicinal properties that have been recognized by some cultures for thousands of years, especially in the Arabian Gulf, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and China, according to Dufat. It is prized for its aroma, depth, and the longevity it gives to fragrances. Oud is rich in antioxidants, with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties, which also have the ability to slow the aging process, according to Dufat. The company states that research is currently underway to establish its efficacy in scar tissue reduction and enhancing the tone, lustre and overall health of skin. “When I started my research,” Dufat says, “I had only an inkling of where it would take me. Working with Oud, and evolving products that have the ingredient at their core – their heart, if you prefer – has been a remarkable and rewarding experience.
